Honest Abe in Bleeding Kansas

He endeavored to make a trip to the Kansas Territory to see for himself the violence that had been brought about by the policy of popular sovereignty and maybe earn himself a few extra delegates to the upcoming Republican Convention. Wakita: A Twister Free Zone
Magic as tornado prevention? Tornadoes are a big concern out in the wheat fields of north central Oklahoma. The little town of Wakita was blown away by an F-5 Tornado but only as a part of the script of the 1996 Blockbuster Twister. Actually, Wakita has never been touched by a tornado. Some say an old Indian spell is the reason.

This time around I let an old friend tell the tale of his parent’s whirlwind wedding that involved a ring locked in a bank vault over the Thanksgiving holiday, a Billy Graham Crusade and a potential court-martial. It may sound crazy but it’s kind of par for the course for the family of Neal Hallford.
