Dr. James Walker was an English professor, complete with a tweed jacket and a love for Mark Twain. But Big Jim Walker, his alter ego, was a guitar playing entertainer with his own transmitter free radio show. I learned many a lesson in the good doctor’s classroom…and a few on the radio show, too!
He had a way of getting the writing across. For me, it was Mark Twain. He was like a Baptist preacher when it came to the subject matter. A good man for sure.

I was an English major at NSU so enrolled in Dr. Walker’s classes whenever I could. I was a little timid at first due to his gruff manner but soon came to love his teaching style. He made Shakespeare come alive, and I “borrowed” some of his comments, almost word for word, for my classroom.
